    I noticed the width difference in the catalog specs, but they looked like a close fit/flush to me and still can't spot the poor fit , so assumed the added screws were to ensure they stayed in place since I don't know how they were originally retained.

    FWIW, i think the grills are correct in the OP, just the fasteners gave up the ghost at some point. They used the same type of quick attach fastener on most models starting in the early 70's i think. They came in different shapes and sizes, but all used the same basic principle of a bunch of tiny interlocking "fingers".

    Ah! I remember those! Really pathetic performance long term, so would [recommend] switch to commercial grade Velcro every chance I got.
